How to Make an Indoor Bowling Game for Kids

Regularly finding fun ways to entertain your kids and get them moving during this time of social distancing can be challenging and requires some creative solutions. One idea is an easy hallway bowling game that’s fun for the whole family made with some water bottles and balls of different sizes.

How to make a hallway bowling alley:

  • Prepare the pins—Empty water bottles work great for pins, and you can fill them halfway with some water to make them more stable and harder to knock over. You can set up ten pins in a standard triangle format or use fewer pins (six will also work well).
  • Use different size balls—Toddlers can use a large ball while older kids may prefer a smaller tennis ball to make the game more of a challenge.
  • Choose a scoring method—Choose the number of rounds (ten is the usual amount). Each child gets two turns to knock over as many pins as possible. You can make each knocked over pin worth a point, and strikes and spares worth ten and five points. For the small children, just knocking down the pins without keeping score will be sufficient!
