Self-Care is Essential During Quarantine
Taking care of your mental health is essential during this stressful time. While having an online therapy appointment or giving yourself a spa treatment are good, there are many activities and ideas that can be done with little or no expense. Try some of these and then find some of your own!
Here are some essential self-care ideas to help counteract stress and boost your mood:
- Take a walk—Just going for a walk around the block or yard will give you some fresh air, improve your circulation and mood!
- Listen to music (and sing along!)—Singing out loud to your favorite music releases endorphins and helps to relieve anxiety and depression.
- Try journaling—When your mind is racing, writing down your thoughts has been shown to improve mood and reduce anxiety.
- Watch and old favorite movie or sitcom.
- Take a hot bath—A nice relaxing soak in the tub decreases stress and even reduces tiredness.
- Have a piece of chocolate.
- Call a friend or relative.
- Read.
- Meditate in silence—Find a quiet place to just sit in silence for a while.
- Try a craft project—take up needlepoint or knitting.
