New Year’s Resolutions for Happy Feet

Making resolutions for the new year is an excellent method to decide what goals we want to accomplish. Finding a way to turn those goals into reality is usually the next step after setting them. Your goals should be realistic. It is crucial you understand the effort required to achieve your overall and foot health goals.

Good shoes are a great investment

Replace old, worn-out shoes with new ones. If your shoes have a sufficient number of miles on them, it is time to change.

Spend as little time as possible wearing open or other unsupportive shoes because they can be bad for your feet. They end up causing foot pain and other issues like bunions, blisters, ingrown toenails, hammertoes and more. To further ease strain and reduce pressure from your feet, think about using orthotic inserts.

Daily foot care routine

Spend some time pampering your feet. Keep your toenails clipped and wash your feet every day. A foot massage with moisturizer before getting into bed or right after a shower is a great way to optimize foot health, as it alleviates dryness, improves blood circulation and prevents infections.

Fitness resolutions

Exercise is essential to leading a healthy lifestyle, but when beginning a new exercise program, remember to start slowly. Going too fast too soon can result in major foot and ankle injuries, which might force you to put your fitness objectives on hold for the new year.

Keep an eye out for any discomfort while exercising. Make sure to warm up and do some foot stretches before working out to avoid sprains and cramps. Regular stretching of the ankles, feet, and legs can help you become more conscious of your physique while enhancing your balance, strength, and flexibility.

Any issues with mobility?

Running or exercising while in pain is not recommended because doing so could make the injury worse. Stop exercising or engaging in any other activity as soon as you feel any pain. Sometimes a good rest does the job but if the pain continues, schedule an appointment with your podiatrist immediately.

Podiatrist visits

Make regular appointments with your podiatrist to discuss any issues you may be having with your feet and to allow your podiatrist to keep track of your health. It is important to pay attention to disorders because some of them may be signs of diabetes or other diseases related to cardiovascular problems that require special care.
